If you want to help us work out a problem, you can switch that on yourself in the settings. While that switch is off — and it is off by default — nothing leaves your phone. It also turns itself back off after seven days.

What the app stores on your phone
- The names you enter for whoever is shooting — first names are enough.
- Per shot: the measured speed and the time.
- Your leaderboard: records, daily standings, milestones reached.
- The calibration of your setup: how the phone is placed and how large the ball appears at that distance.
- A technical log of recent measurements, so it can be checked why a shot could not be measured.
This lives in the app's private storage, which no other app can reach. If you uninstall the app, it is gone from your phone.
The camera footage
The app films the ball in order to calculate its speed. That is the core of what it does, and it is why it asks for camera permission.
That footage stays on your phone. The calculation runs on the device itself; the app needs no server to determine a speed. Footage is overwritten by the next measurement. It is not shared, and nothing is recognised in it — the app looks for a round ball, not for faces.
The app requests no access to your location, contacts, microphone, or to photos and files outside the app.
What goes to our server
On its own: nothing. Everything below happens only after you have tapped it yourself.

Nothing beyond this leaves the phone. No camera footage while you leave that switch off, no location, no address book, no advertising ID.
Children
In practice this app is mostly used by children, together with a parent or coach. That calls for restraint, and it is built in:
- The app asks only for a name, and a first name or nickname will do. It does not ask for a surname, age, email address or photo.
- There is no account and no login, so there is nothing to link to a person outside the app.
- There is no advertising and no advertising ID, so no profile is built.
Set the app up together, and use first names. If a parent wants their child's data removed, send a message with the name used and the backup will be deleted.
What does not happen
- No advertising, no advertising ID.
- No third-party analytics or tracking services.
- No sale or sharing of data with other parties.
- No accounts, no passwords, no email addresses.
- No face recognition and no other recognition of people in the image.
How long data is kept
On your phone: until you erase it or uninstall the app. Camera footage does not survive the next measurement.
On our server there is only the leaderboard backup. It stays as long as you might need it, and is deleted on request or after two years without use.
The server is located in Germany, within the European Union. No data is transferred outside the EU.
Your rights
You may ask what data is held about you or your child, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Write to info@footballshotspeed.com. If we cannot resolve it together, you may lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

This website
For every visit to footballshotspeed.com the web server records one line: the time, which page was requested, whether that succeeded, and the visitor's IP address. This is needed to investigate faults — for instance to see whether Google was able to retrieve the privacy policy.
Those lines are deleted after fourteen days. This site sets no cookies, runs no visitor counter and no script belonging to another company, and the data is not used to recognise or follow visitors.
Changes
If what the app records or sends changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
